Like many community-centered organizations, we have faced funding gaps and capacity strain that have made it difficult to continue operating at the level of care and excellence our work deserves. In response, we are taking a step back—not as an ending, but as an intentional pause for rest, reflection, and healing for our team and especially for our founder, Chevon, who has carried the heart and vision of this work for many years.

GBE is a contractor-based business model. During the hiatus, we will be ending contracts with specific team members for the time being. We are deeply grateful to all past team members whose dedication has carried this work forward. This decision was not made lightly and is part of our effort to responsibly pause event operations while we reevaluate our structure and sustainability. Our core leadership team will continue to focus on strategic planning, hosting listening sessions, and engaging with our community to shape the future direction of GBE.
